What better way to kick start new habits then on a Monday. My reset button should have been pushed about 2 months ago. I dropped the ball and I need to find my way back to a healthier version on me.

I try to make good decisions when it comes to family, work and Wellness but lately I’ve slipped deeper then usual. I’m happy to say my Family game is strong but I could be working more with my daughter AJ’s extra, extra optional homework. Work is going well and I still enjoy teaching DANZhouse Fitness tremendously. If only I could find my way out of endless email messages like the rest of the world.

Now let’s get down to Wellness and my main inspiration for blogging my thoughts. Wellness for me includes fitness, food, health and mental well-being. Today is the day that I actively took positive steps to achieve my wellness goals now before stepping into the New Year.

FITNESS A new goal I have is to do more of what’s good for me (Not just what I like to do.) I could dance all day but at 42 I need to pickup weights. So today on my day off of teaching I ventured into Jackie’s Monday 10:30AM DANZbarre class at DANZhouse. This was my first go at it and Jackie served me a sore tush on a platter. Imagine her Pilates class literally Jack’d up standing and you’ll get the picture. It hurt so good during class and we were given challenging exercises I haven’t done before. In my experience taking any of Jackie’s sculpting classes (She has 4 on the schedule) you will get a unique set of exercises each time and she always takes your workout the to the next level.

FOOD Food glorious food. I recently watched an HBO documentary called, “If You’re not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast”. This showed featured famous Seniors in their 90’s like Betty White and shared their lifestyles. One women who was an Olympic runner to date at 96 said, “If what you are eating tastes good then it’s bad for you”. So, now moving forward I’ll eat less of what tastes delicious and focus more of what my body needs. One of my mother’s many famous quotes, “Nothing ever tastes as good as thin feels”.Here is a breakdown of my day 1 back on track. Keep in mind the time of day we consume food plays an important role.

  1. Breakfast 7:30AM

1 cup of coffee with 2 tsp of Lucerne lactose free creamer (way too much sugar but I dream about this. My goal is to cut this back)Smoothie – Silk Almond/Coconut Blend Unsweetened (35 calories per serving), Vega One plant based protein powder (1 g of sugar), Field of Greens (Alkaline dietary Supplement), Chia seeds and Flaxseeds. * I start my mornings with fist full of vitamins and supplements that I’ll cover in my next post (Including Apple Cider Vinegar, Baxyl and more)2. Lunch 1pmSeed to Sprout restaurant (Fair Haven) Seed Salad. I added avocado and I measured 1/3 of the dressing provided to reduce calories. Green Goddess juice (kale, grapefruit, apple, ginger, celery and cilantro). I dislike ginger and cilantro but I left it in to give my body what it needs. 3. Snack 3:30pmCoffee with more creamer (My Achilles heel)4. Dinner 6:30pmSwordfish, broccoli and tomatoes.5. Last snack 8:30pmCelestial Sleepytime Vanilla tea (2 bags) with honey.Cheers to day 1! Let’s see how I get through Tuesday.

HEALTH Today in the health department I achieved a few things. First I scheduled a few long overdue Doctor appointments such as my Dermatologist to name one. I can’t remember the last time I had my mole’s checked. Next, I visited my Chiropractor Kathy McDermott of Fair Haven and enjoyed a deep tissue massage before my adjustment. Both treatments were covered by insurance which made them both more enjoyable. Last, I did not have a glass of wine and I will not take Tylenol PM tonight. Sounds easy but I got into a routine of doing both. I don’t drink every night but I drink a glass of wine more then I should. It’s time to put “Wine on weekends ” back into action. I began having trouble sleeping 6 months ago. I turned to Tylenol PM and it helped. With a better meal plan, more active days, sleepy tea and a night bath I should get my sleep clock back on time soon. I’m a night owl but I will shoot for 11pm shut eye. WELL-BEINGI need to try different methods of mental relaxation. Tonight I’m diving into the book Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult after my bath. Tomorrow I might break out my Sedona energy crystals to give them a try. Good Night to you and try to turn over your own new leaf tomorrow.
